Blended Colors Over the Valley

Blended Colors Over the Valley

Monument Valley (translated to "valley of the rock") is part of the Colorado Plateau. It is made up of a cluster of huge sandstone buttes, the largest scaling 1,000 ft above the floor of the valley. It is located near the Four Corners area part of the Arizona/Utah border. The valley is part of the Navajo Nation Reservation.

The Valley has been featured in many movies and television shows since the 1930s. It has been used by John Ford, the director, for a number of his best-known films. It has defined what moviegoers imagine the American West would be.
